Social-Emotional Learning → Trauma Resiliency

Promoting a Sense of Belonging (Jolt2022-11)

Description
Children impacted by trauma and prolonged toxic stress carry a burden of feeling unworthy and disconnected from others. In turn, these feelings impair the traumatized child’s ability to develop meaningful and secure attachments. Once manifested, children can carry these painful feelings into and throughout adulthood. This course examines the importance of "Belonging" as a critical component of resiliency. You will see how trauma disrupts a student’s sense of attachment and how schools can help foster belonging within the school community.
